Whoa, we're halfway there!

We're almost at the halfway point in our pregnancy journey, if you go by the standard 40 weeks, but as many of you know it could be longer or shorter. Seeing our baby's images and movements again on the ultrasound was fantastic. We told the tech. ahead of time that we prefer not to know the sex of the baby yet, so she was great about using gender-neutral terms consistently and asking us to close our eyes when she took measurements of Baby's legs and anything else in that region. It was tempting to sneak a peek, but the idea of waiting until birth was thrilling enough to keep us honest. (Although Ryan is a man of his word and didn't have trouble with this temptation as I did!) ;)

I had to go on a maternity wear shopping spree because I've truly outgrown a lot of my clothes! We'll get another photo posted soon so you can see for yourself.

Thanks for your comments, posted here and to my (Althea's) hotmail account. We appreciate your support and will keep you updated on other events as they occur.

Behold the Bump!

On St. Patrick's Day, we hosted a dinner get-together for 14 friends and paused to take our first pregnancy photo together at 17 weeks, 3 days. People have commented that "the bump" is a lot more noticeable this week. For those of you who don't live near us, we thought you'd enjoy seeing Althea get a bigger belly!

Baby's Already Laughing at 13 Weeks!

We were so excited to officially announce on Valentine's Day that we're expecting our first child! Close friends and family had already heard the good news fairly early on and were crossing their fingers for us, but at 13 weeks Mama Chow finally posted this photo of Baby on Facebook and sent it to coworkers and other friends proudly. We love that s/he already seems to be having a great time, perhaps laughing at something silly Papa Liddell said. (OK, we know that's not possible yet, but it's fun to imagine!)

We'll find out if Baby Chow Liddell is a "he" or a "she" around August 22, 2008.

Until then, check back here for updates!

Our next ultrasound is on March 31st.
